Ted Mapes, Eagle’s Bluff resident, had been nurturing a growing passion to fulfill a need for a chapel in the Eagles Bluff neighborhood in Bullard, TX. He was first led in this direction while having cancer treatments in June of 2017. A survey was sent to residents of Eagles Bluff in May of 2018 to gage the interest of the neighborhood, resulting in a well-attended organizational meeting in December of that year.

In 2019, land for the building was contributed by the Eagle’s Bluff LLC, led by the majority owners, Steve and Cheryl Plybon, plans were drawn, and a builder contracted to make the plans a reality. Ground was broken on December of 2019 and The Chapel on Eagles Bluff was completed and dedicated in December 2020.  The Chapel has a capacity to seat approximately 120 people, as well as a small meeting room, kitchenette, and a bridal dressing room.  The building incorporates five beautiful stained-glass windows contributed by our builder, Trent Williams. These windows were once part of the Lanes Chapel/Lanes Chapel Methodist Church in Tyler, TX which has a history going back to 1891.

We have established a Board of Directors.

If anyone has an interest in serving on Committees as openings arise or as additional committees are formed, please advise any one of the Board Members:

We rely entirely upon the emotional and financial support of those who will step forward and make contributions to such a worthy cause. Your contributions will be tax deductible as we have secured tax exempt status from the IRS under the Code 501 (C) (3).

While the building and a good portion of the prayer garden are complete, we will need funds to assist us as we go forward with preserving and enhancing the investment over time. Eagles Bluff Country Club and the Eagles Bluff Community Association have no financial involvement in this project. We hope many others will step forward as we strive to establish this House of God.
